I have complained here before about behavior in libraries. So I sympathized with how difficult it must be to work in the British Library now, as described in this article.

Two writers stop e-mailing each other about what irks them in publishing, teaching, and other realms, and start sharing their thoughts online.

I agree with your point, I really do- libraries are places to work, and you shouldn't do anything which disrupts others' work. However, I really did have to laugh:
'“There’s loads of people dressing like they’re in an episode of ‘Skins’ and high-fiving each other,” said Matt Taunton, a 28-year-old postdoctoral research assistant, referring to a television series about the wild and crazy lives of teenagers in Bristol.'
However frustrating the situation is, and I can see that it must be, it seems to be going a bit far to effectively suggest that every single undergraduate is effectively part of a homogenous mass, unaware or somehow incapable of considering the feelings and needs of other people working around them and, for some reason, inappropriately dressed, too!
Completely agree with your point, just not with that article, but then I'm obviously biased! :)

Okay, point taken, Kirsty. So you young undergrads aren't all ignorant and annoying? That's news! ;-)
